When modern classical music and jazz meet a new language is created. A language in which, although we might know the words, a new story is created wherein those well-known words sound reborn. An adventurous and challenging story whose outcome is not certain. Improvisation and composition merge and lead each other into new territory.
In this Dutch ensemble, founded in 2007, Gerard Kleijn and Dick de Graaf invited top classical en jazz musicians from several generations to take part. The Clazz Ensemble surprises its audience with
frontier-crossing music written by composers of modern classical music and jazz. All of the repertoire is composed exclusively for this project.
